A photo showing soldiers escorting cows in Enugu state in southeastern Nigeria has sparked outrage.
In the photo released online on Tuesday, the armed soldiers were seen escorting cows belonging to Fulani herders down a road despite the ban on open-grazing.
The incident occurred amid worsening insecurity and killings by terrorists across the country.
Many Nigerians on social media expressed their displeasure over the incident which some described as “a great disgrace” for the country.
Others say the photo justifies claims that government forces are colluding with jihadist Fulani herders to attack farmers and communities.
“Oh!. They have turned our Soldiers to cattle rearer. It’s a pity at the same time shameful. The Soldiers that supposed to be at the forefront of the war against terrorism. It’s not okay,” said Elman Mary.
