The Ebonyi State Governor has approved foreign scholarships for 98 indigenes to pursue Master’s and PhD programmes in the United Kingdom, as part of its education and human capital development drive.
The development was disclosed on Monday via social media, indicating that the beneficiaries are being sponsored under the administration of Francis Nwifuru.

According to the information shared, the scholarship recipients will undertake postgraduate studies across various disciplines, with the programme designed to equip them with advanced skills and global exposure.
The move aligns with the state government’s stated commitment to investing in education as a long-term strategy for economic and institutional development. Since assuming office, the Nwifuru administration has prioritised capacity building, particularly in education and public sector competence.

Photos accompanying the announcement showed the beneficiaries assembled ahead of their departure, drawing positive reactions from residents and social media users, many of whom described the initiative as timely amid rising education costs and limited access to foreign study opportunities.
