Operatives from Imo State Police Command have busted armed robbers den following an arrest of a member of the gang.
Nnura Henry Adam, 34, hails from Umuayata village in Oguta Local Government Area of the state.
Adam, who was arrested while carrying out burglary and stealing, led the operatives to the building where ammunition were recovered.
Police spokesman Michael Abattam, a Chief Superintendent (CSP), said the gang was responsible for burglary and stealing carried out in Oguta communities.
He said that “a case of burglary and stealing was reported last Wednesday to the Divisional Police Officer incharge of Oguta Police Station, adding that his investigation team immediately swung into action to identify and arrest the perpetrators of the act…”
He said the suspect had confessed to the crime, claiming that it was his boss, Ebuka (aka Small Witch) that instructed him to break into the complainant’s house at night.
He led the investigating team to Ebuka’s house.
He said the suspect on sighting the police escaped through the bush.
On searching the house, he said the following items were recovered: Three automatic English made Beretta Pistols, 46 live GPMG ammunition, 58 live 7.62mm M240 machine gun ammunition, 72 AK-47 rifle 5.56mm live ammunition, two empty pistol magazine, 23 live cartridges, 39 .9mm ammunition, 16 live LAR rifle ammunition, One damaged pistol magazine, one damaged G3 magazine, two Itel handset, one motorcycle, one bicycle, three television sets and his personal picture.
According to him, efforts are on top gear to arrest the fleeing suspect and other members of his gang.
