Hundreds of supporters on Thursday thronged the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi, to welcome the State Commissioner for Finance, Dr Yakubu Adamu, following his return from Abuja.
Adamu arrived in the state after the Federal High Court in Abuja granted him bail in an alleged terrorism financing case currently before the court.
Pecohub reports that supporters, drawn from different parts of the state, received the commissioner with chants and prayers, expressing confidence in his innocence as the trial continued.
Some of them told journalists that the court’s decision to grant bail was reassuring, urging the public to remain calm and allow the judicial process to run its course.
Addressing the gathering later at his family residence in Bauchi, Adamu expressed gratitude to the people of the state and other well-wishers for their prayers and support.
He urged his supporters to remain law-abiding and to continue to respect constituted authority.
The commissioner also appealed to residents to sustain their support for the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed, reiterating the government’s commitment to accelerating development across the state.
Pecohub reports that the case remains pending before the Federal High Court, while Adamu is expected to continue complying with the bail conditions.
Recall that the Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Dr Yakubu Adamu, was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations bordering on terrorism financing.
