Vigilante group at Umuaku, working in consonance with youths in Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State have reportedly arrested two kidnappers alleged to be terrorising people along the Umunneochi axis of the Enugu – Port Harcourt Expressway.
This is even as the Vigilante was said to have foiled the abduction of some passengers along the same route.
The kidnappers were reported to have been caught on Tuesday morning within the boundary between Umuhu and Mbezi, Mbala Isuochi.
It was gathered that the kidnappers who were said to hail from Abakiliki in Ebonyi State, and were led by a native of Umuaku community, are among the criminals making live unbearable for people around the area.
Meanwhile, the Umunneochi Vigilante group on Monday foiled an attempt to kidnap passengers on transit along Spiritan University axis of Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area.
The passengers who sustained slight bullet injuries, while narrating their ordeals, commended the efforts of the Vigilantes in averting their possible abduction.
“The Vigilante group had arrived on time at the scene of the incident and engaged the hoodlums suspected to be Fulani bandits who disguised in army uniforms and different attires in a serious gun duel”, said one of the passengers.
It was gathered that no life was lost in the gun battle, as the hoodlums were said to have ran into the bush when they were overpowered by the firepower of the Vigilante.
Some of the passengers commended the Vigilante and called for government’s more support for them.
