The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that the FCT Administration will cover 50 per cent of the cost incurred by Dunamis International Gospel Centre in constructing a pedestrian bridge along Abuja’s Airport Road.

Wike made the announcement on Friday, October 30, 2026, during the commissioning of the bridge near the church’s headquarters, the Glory Dome.
He commended the church, led by Senior Pastor Paul Enenche and his wife, Becky Enenche, for undertaking the project as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, describing the intervention as a contribution to public safety.
According to Wike, Dunamis first applied for approval to construct the bridge in 2018. However, the application was only brought to his attention in February 2026, after which approval was granted within a month.
The church undertook the construction in response to concerns over frequent pedestrian accidents along the busy highway. Enenche said the project was completed after approximately four months of construction.
Wike said the initiative demonstrated the importance of collaboration between government and private organisations, noting that public authorities could not provide every infrastructure need without support from other stakeholders.
The church also plans to install protective roofing, security lighting and transparent side panels to improve the bridge’s safety, appearance and usability.
The announcement has raised broader questions about the framework for reimbursing private organisations that independently provide infrastructure intended for public use, including the criteria for determining eligible projects and the basis for government contributions.
