Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has made a runway appearance at Lagos Fashion Week, walking for Nigerian fashion designer Ugo Monye.
Sanwo-Olu shared photographs of the appearance on his official X account, saying he stepped away from his usual governance responsibilities to support the designer at the fashion event.

The governor appeared on the runway in an all-white traditional-inspired outfit featuring a flowing outer garment, a matching hat and coordinated footwear.
He described Lagos as an increasingly important centre for fashion, creativity and culture, adding that he remained committed to supporting the people driving the state’s creative growth.
Monye, whose eponymous menswear label was established in 2009, is known for incorporating Nigerian cultural references into contemporary fashion design.

The appearance formed part of the 2026 edition of Lagos Fashion Week, which ran from October 28 to November 1 under the theme “CRAFTED: Heritage. Innovation. Circular Futures.” The event brought together designers, models, creative professionals and fashion industry stakeholders to showcase African fashion and craftsmanship.
Sanwo-Olu’s appearance adds a high-profile public endorsement to the growing visibility of Nigerian designers and Lagos’ position as a hub for the continent’s fashion industry.
