In Imo: Gov Uzodimma Commences Renovation Of Concorde Hotel

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state has commenced the renovation of the 5 star Imo Concorde Hotel Owerri and has concluded plans to construct an international recreation facility on the Nworie River beach to boost tourism and hospitality industry in the state.

In a chat with newsmen in his office, the Commissioner for Tourism in the state, Barr Jerry Egemba said there will be “comprehensive renovation of Concorde Hotel and everything there is going to be replaced with new things to bring it to international standard and by August there will be a brand new hotel with a world class management.”

He further said that standard equipment would be installed in all departments of the hotel and that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been signed with the Hilton Group known all over the world in hotel management to manage the hotel. However, he did not disclose whether the architectural design would be changed as speculated by people.

On the construction of Nworie River beach, Hon Egemba disclosed that the necessary analysis had been done from the Egbeada area of the river which is the source to Otamiri River.

However, the confluence point and the architectural design, soil test and discussions with dredgers had been done and concluded.

He also said that the premises would be fenced, with relevant structures constructed in the park that would be modelled after Landmark in Lagos where people would go for relaxation and entertainment.
