Sony’s press conference at CES 2025 thrilled the audience with exciting reveals, including the launch of Afeela electric vehicle reservations.
President, COO, and CFO of Sony Group Corporation Hiroki Totoki described the overall philosophy as Sony’s Creative Entertainment Vision.
The company announced the first model to be sold under the “AFEELA brand at CES 2025 – AFEELA 1. The car is scheduled for U.S. production at an existing, state-of-art plant in Ohio with official sales in California anticipated in 2025 and deliveries anticipated in mid-2026.
The EV will be available in “two trims,” as per Sony, with prices starting from $89,900 with a 3-year complimentary subscription for certain functionality and features, according to a company press release.
The tech titan has also announced online reservations through the AFEELA website with a fully refundable reservation fee of $200.
Yasuhide Mizuno of Sony Honda Mobility revealed the exciting news at the press conference. The joint EV venture between Sony and Honda shows distinguishing characteristics in what it offers via its “Creative entertainment space.”
Once you set your destination, Afeela’s ADAS system provides “end-to-end driving support” – an intelligent drive that uses AI perception along with 40 sensors to let it recognize its surroundings.
Its AI panel offers visuals of where the car is and its surroundings. Once ADAS is activated, customers can be entertained by the car. Afeela, the personal agent, focuses on conversation, controls the vehicle, and actively talks to you, providing the passenger with information to help you with the best driving time.
The beautiful UI provides a variety of view options. The apps offered by the car include Amazon Music, Audible, TikTok, Zoom, Spotify and more. The number keeps growing, as Mizuno stated.
Afeela 1 is ready for reservation, he shared. Offered at the starting price of $89,900 for the Origin model and $102,900 for the Signature trim. Both include a complimentary 3-year subscription to certain functionality and advanced features.
Reservations, initially only offered to residents of California, are accepted now online through their website. A fully refundable $200 reservation fee will get you first dibs on the car.
