Political commentator Iyke Orji has predicted that Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo may be more inclined to support one of his trusted female appointees as his preferred successor rather than former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka.
Orji made the remarks during an online discussion sparked by speculation that Anambra’s next governor could be a woman.
According to him, Governor Soludo’s leadership style places a premium on loyalty, arguing that this could influence any future succession considerations within the ruling party.
He suggested that the Governor might be more likely to back the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, or Ms. Chinwe Okoli, whom he described as a trusted member of Soludo’s administration, ahead of Chidoka.
In his post, Orji argued that Chidoka’s national profile, extensive political experience, and broad network of contacts could make him less likely to fit what he described as Soludo’s preference for absolute loyalty.
“The Soludo I know might not be looking through Chidoka’s way… He would trust Chiamaka Nnake or Chinwe Okoli as governorship hopefuls over Chidoka,” Orji wrote.
However, the comments remain the personal opinion of the commentator and do not reflect any official position by Governor Soludo or the Anambra State Government.
Neither Governor Soludo nor Osita Chidoka has publicly commented on the claims, and there has been no official indication regarding any preferred successor or endorsement ahead of the next governorship election.
Political succession discussions in Anambra are expected to intensify in the coming months as parties begin consultations ahead of future electoral contests.
