As part of its nationwide drive to enhance law enforcement infrastructure, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) has commissioned a state-of-the-art Smart Divisional Police Headquarters in Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria.
The newly completed facility, officially handed over to the Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday, is equipped with modern features including a fully furnished station, CCTV-enabled perimeter surveillance, a solar-powered inverter system, a functional borehole with an overhead water tank, fire safety systems, and landscaped surroundings with designated parking areas.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the NPTF, Mohammed F. Sheidu, emphasised that the project aims to boost operational efficiency, strengthen police-community relations, and improve the overall working environment for police personnel.
Sheidu reaffirmed the trust fund’s commitment to providing the Nigeria Police with the infrastructure, training, and tools required to address modern security challenges across the country effectively.
He also expressed gratitude to key stakeholders who supported the project, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership in advancing police reforms; the Inspector General of Police for championing modernisation within the Force; and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State for creating the enabling environment that ensured the project’s successful completion.
Dignitaries in attendance included Commissioner of Police CP Uche Anya, Deputy Core Hon. Princess Patricia Obila, traditional rulers, senior police officers, and community leaders.
In a reflective moment, Sheidu offered condolences to families affected by recent attacks in Benue State, emphasising the critical importance of a well-equipped and responsive police force in safeguarding lives and maintaining national security.
The Akaeze project is one of several initiatives currently being implemented by the NPTF to transform policing in Nigeria through innovation, infrastructure development, and strategic collaboration.
