Team Nigeria has established itself as the leading nation at the ongoing 2026 Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Para-Track and Track African Championships, holding at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome in Abuja.
The championship has drawn top-tier cyclists from across the continent, including strong contenders such as Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Algeria, and the host nation, Nigeria.
Following two days of intense competition on home turf, Nigeria currently sits atop the medal table with an impressive tally of 16 medals comprising nine gold, five silver, and two bronze.
The outstanding performance places Nigeria ahead of Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, and Algeria, highlighting the nation’s increasing prowess and stature in African cycling.
Egypt is in second place with 14 medals, while Kenya holds third with 9. South Africa and Algeria complete the top five standings.
The performances of Team Nigeria’s cyclists have captivated home supporters at the velodrome, with athletes demonstrating remarkable speed, endurance, technical skill, and resolve throughout the event.
Nigeria previously hosted the 2021 and 2023 editions of the competition. This year, over 100 cyclists from eight countries are competing for medals, pride, and glory.
