Nigeria Police Force Armwrestling Team Triumphs at National Championship, Secures Spot at African Championship

The Nigeria Police Force Armwrestling Team delivered an outstanding performance at the just-concluded National Armwrestling Championship in Ibadan, Oyo State, securing a total of four gold, three silver, and one bronze medal. 

Their dominance in the competition ensured that four of their athletes earned spots to represent Nigeria at the upcoming 14th Africa Armwrestling Championship in Abuja, July 2025.

Among the standout performers was CPL Sandra Ndukwu, who demonstrated immense strength and skill by winning two gold medals, while CPL Happiness Ubah also secured two gold medals, reinforcing the team’s dominance. 

INSPR Okechukwu Nnadi contributed with two silver medals, and CPL Chika Blessing added to the tally with one silver and one bronze medal.

The Imo State Command played a significant role in the team’s success, as INSPR Okechukwu Nnadi, CPL Sandra Ndukwu, and CPL Happiness Ubah all hail from the command and showcased exceptional talent on the national stage.

Reacting to the team’s impressive performance, DSP Raphael Ubah, National Coach of the Nigeria Police Armwrestling Association, expressed his pride and confidence in the athletes.

“This is a remarkable achievement for the Nigeria Police Force. Our officers have worked tirelessly, and their dedication has paid off. 

Securing four qualifications for the African Championship in Abuja is no small feat, and we are confident they will bring home more medals for Nigeria,” DSP Ubah stated.

CPL Sandra Ndukwu, one of the gold medalists, shared her excitement and commitment to making history at the continental event.

“We gave our best in Ibadan, and we are proud of what we achieved. Now, our focus is on Abuja 2025, where we will train even harder and fight to bring home more gold medals for Nigeria,” Ndukwu said.

With the Nigeria Police Force producing some of the country’s finest armwrestlers, expectations are high as they prepare to compete against Africa’s best at the 14th Africa Armwrestling Championship next year.
