Nigeria has reinforced its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Grenada, as the island nation reaffirmed its readiness to sustain collaboration under the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) scheme.
The Director-General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Yusuf Buba-Yakub, led a high-level delegation to Grenada as part of Nigeria’s broader efforts to deepen South-South cooperation with African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries.
The delegation, which included the Director of Programmes, Bello Jaye, held strategic engagements with key government institutions in Grenada, beginning with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Grenada’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Joseph Andall, received the Nigerian delegation and commended the impact of the NTAC scheme in the country.
“The NTAC programme has continued to deliver positive outcomes in Grenada, and we remain committed to strengthening our collaboration with Nigeria,” Andall said.
At the Ministry of Health, discussions centred on expanding cooperation in healthcare delivery, capacity building and technical assistance. The Permanent Secretary, Rhonda Jones, who represented the Health Minister, expressed appreciation for Nigeria’s support.
“We acknowledge the significant contributions of Nigerian professionals to our healthcare system and look forward to sustaining this partnership in key areas,” Jones said.
In his remarks, Yakub reiterated Nigeria’s dedication to fostering development partnerships through the NTAC scheme, which deploys skilled Nigerian professionals to partner countries.
“Nigeria remains committed to South-South cooperation through the deployment of technical expertise to support human capital development and institutional strengthening,” he said.
Also speaking, Ambassador Jaye underscored the importance of collaboration in tackling shared challenges, particularly in the health sector.
“Strategic partnerships such as this are vital in addressing common development challenges through knowledge exchange and technical support,” he noted.
The Nigerian delegation included officials from the Nigerian High Commission in Grenada, including Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Dankaro Angye Ashumate, and Head of Chancery, Linda Hills.
The engagements highlight Nigeria’s growing influence in South-South cooperation and its continued efforts to promote shared development and international solidarity.
