Abdellatif Hammouchi, director general of Morocco’s National Security and Territorial Surveillance services, reviewed final security preparations on Sunday for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament hosted by Morocco, officials said.
Hammouchi conducted a field visit to the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat alongside the city’s police chief and senior security officials.
The visit focused on safety and security protocols for the opening match between Morocco and Comoros, including crowd management, venue protection, and measures to ensure safe conditions for spectators.
Officials briefed Hammouchi on command and coordination rooms linked to surveillance camera systems, as well as a dedicated police unit established inside the stadium to enforce laws related to sporting events.
The visit forms part of a broader integrated security plan deployed by the General Directorate of National Security for AFCON Morocco 2025.
Authorities have also set up an African police cooperation center involving security representatives from participating countries, alongside FIFA, the Confederation of African Football, Interpol and partners from Qatar, Portugal and Spain.
Security protocols have been tailored for each match, with reinforced border controls and additional personnel deployed to manage the arrival of foreign supporters and ensure public safety throughout the tournament.
