To enhance healthcare accessibility among residents, the Chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi State, Ifeoma Agwu, has inaugurated a free medical outreach programme designed to serve over 2,000 people in the region.
The programme, which was inaugurated on Thursday, is expected to serve over 2,000 people, especially the less privileged.
During the flag-off ceremony in Ezilo, the council headquarters, Agwu noted that the 2000 people will be drawn from all the communities, adding that the outreach will improve public health services in the LGA.
She further articulated her commitment to providing quality health services, stating that the initiative aims to address the pressing health needs of the Ishielu people.
Agwu stressed that the medical outreach will become an annual event to cater to Ishielu residents’ health requirements.
The outreach, which includes various health services to improve overall community well-being, is one of Agwu’s broader strategies to enhance regional health insurance coverage.
During the event, the National Association of Community Health Practitioners, Ebonyi State Chapter, presented a prestigious award to the Council Boss to recognize her as a “Pillar of Community Health in Ebonyi State.
Presenting the award, the National President of Community Health Practitioners, Kabir Ahmed, noted that this accolade reflects her diligent efforts and dedication to addressing health challenges faced by the residents of Ishielu.
The state chairman of the National President of Community Health Practitioners, Chittachi Jerry Uslor, also commended the LGA chairman’s leadership qualities.
“Her relentless drive for community health improvement is commendable and sets a precedent for other local government leaders,” Uslor added.
As the initiative unfolds, it promises to make a lasting impact on the health landscape of the region.
