The Deputy National Youth Leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Southeast, Odii Moses Nweze, on Monday, defected from the party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with over 2,000 others.
Speaking during the defection in Amanato Ward, Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, the State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr Jennifer Nwafor-Adibe, said that the party has come to bring tremendous change by catering for the welfare of citizens.
According to her, the party is going to provide the needed amenities for the people of Onicha and Nigerians, while calling on them to take their destinies into their hands.
Dr Jennifer Nwafor-Adibe, who called for total support for the party to reposition the economy, decried the high cost of things in the market, saying, “You see, when you go to the market with a million naira, you don’t even see anything you buy with it. So, we said enough is enough.
“This is the time for us to take our destinies into our hands. This is a time for us to fight for our future. This is a time for us to fight for the future of our children.
She further assured that when ADC takes over power, it will provide quality healthcare and other basic amenities to the people.
“So, this time around, this party has come to provide everything you need. Your welfare, the quality health care, and basic social amenities for the people. This is not a time when you vote somebody into power when the person climbs there. The person will not remember you again.
“This is a party, if you look at our manifestos and our logo, you’ll see that this is a party that carries one another. It’s not about winning an election.
“Because if we do not put the right leaders in place, we will not be able to go far. You see so many people who go to the hospital because they don’t have quality health care. They will just die.
“And these are some preventable deaths. But because of the type of leaders we have in the country, they were not able to provide what they had voted there to do. So, this time around, we are taking our destinies in our hands”, she stated.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the defectors, Hon. Moses Odii Nweze, former Deputy National Youth Leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Southeast, said the people of Onicha Local Government Area have seen the liberation they were yearning for.
Moses Odii Nweze, the former coordinator of Onicha Development Centre, maintained that with the defection, Onicha Local Government Area has been delivered to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while giving the assurances that more people will soon defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ADC.
“I am defecting because our people love the truth. ADC is the truth, and the truth must be unveiled. I stand to say that from today onwards, we have delivered onicha government to ADC. From today, ADC will be the song that will be sung in this local government.
“In order to liberate our people from the poverty caused by the APC-led government, we have to support the APC. I want to tell our chairman that the stakeholders who are supposed to be here are not here because of the time, but send their greetings.
“That you will still see more of the movement of APC to ADC. That APC has also been moved out of us. And they can never come back to rule Nigeria again.
“The APC members you see today, you shall see them no more. And ADC shall stand and replace the APC. And we are going to make sure that our stakeholders, our women, our youth, both the adults, the young and the old, shall be the members of ADC in Onicha Local Government Area.”
