The 21 elected local government chairmen in Anambra State have taken their oath of office alongside their deputies.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo performed the function at the Light House, Awka.
The chairmen, were all elected on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) during the August 29 local government election conducted by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission.
Governor Soludo charged the new Council chairmen to prioritise grassroots development, accountability and the welfare of the people in their various local government areas.
He congratulated them on their victory at the polls and reminded them that they had transitioned from the realm of politics to governance.
The Governor urged them to work collaboratively with the state government as part of Project Anambra, stressing that public resources must be used judiciously for the benefit of the people.
In an interview, the Chairman of the Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Mr Ifeanyi Onuchukwu, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his leadership and pledged the collective support of the council chairmen to deepen development at the grassroots.
