The Anambra State Ministry of Transport on 22 June 2026 organized an orientation programme for Train Park Monitors and members of the Enforcement Team to strengthen monitoring, compliance, and revenue generation within the state’s transportation sector.
Speaking on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo, the Special Adviser, Mr. Flavour Obiofor, outlined the duties of park monitors, including overseeing daily park operations, ensuring compliance with government policies, verifying registrations and approvals, reporting irregularities, gathering operational data, and promoting safety and orderliness in motor parks.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Michael Obiekwe, urged the participants to be transparent and dedicated in the discharge of their duties, stressing that the ministry would no longer tolerate unprofessional practices. He also encouraged them to provide accurate information to the Commissioner and contribute to increased government revenue.
In his presentation, the Head of Department, Transport Operations, Mr. Christopher Okeke, explained the five modes of transportation—road, rail, water, pipeline, and air transport—and highlighted the ministry’s mandate in policy formulation and transportation management.
Mr. Okeke also discussed the functions of agencies under the ministry, including the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) and the Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA), noting that ARTMA ensures smooth traffic flow while VIO officers certify the roadworthiness of vehicles.
A resource person, Mr. Charles Ibuzo, disclosed that the ministry is adopting technology-driven solutions to monitor the movement of buses and passengers in parks. According to him, the initiative is aimed at promoting sanity in the transport sector and improving revenue collection.
He further emphasized the importance of transport revenue monitoring, enforcement procedures, teamwork, customer service, security consciousness, and innovative approaches to service delivery.
Also speaking, the Technical Consultant to the Ministry, Mr. Ejike Nwafor, explained that the government had directed the ministry to embrace digital operations. He stated that park operators would be required to obtain ASIN numbers to facilitate seamless monthly payments and enhance accountability.
Responding on behalf of the Enforcement Team, Mr. Obi Achalla thanked the ministry for the training and pledged the team’s commitment to complying with all directives and policies aimed at improving the transportation sector in Anambra State.
