Members of the Abia State markets and Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA) has appealed to the State government to help them build toilet facilities and recirculate water boreholes in the market places to avoid outbreak of diseases.
The leader of the association, Mrs. Nkechi Ezinne made the appeal when they paid a courtesy visit to the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti at her country home of Nvosi in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area on Wednesday.
She disclosed that the visit was to show their support and solidarity to the Governor Alex Otti’s administration based on the developmental progress it has achieved in Aba.
“We have seen road construction and the improvement of existing roads, renovation of our markets , payment of worker’s salaries, support for business expansion, training and loans program for small business owners”.
Addressing members of ASMATA, the wife of the Governor Mrs. Priscilla Otti commended the women for forming such a formidable group to identify with the Governor.
Mrs. Otti emphasized that time has passed when women were pushed to the background, nothing that Governor Otti has demonstrated his administration commitment to empowering women by appointing them into key positions.
“The state government, through the ministry of women affairs, is working diligently to ensure that women are included and involved as we progress in building the Abia of our dreams”, she disclosed.
