The South East Security outfit code named Ebubeagu were Saturday reported to have disrupted an already scheduled august meeting in the State
The venue of the event, Peoples Club, Abakaliki, was said to have been invaded by Ebubeagu with their official vehicles and guns
According to The Nation, the meeting was conveyed by a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nwakego Emmanuel, who is known as Ego Bekee, to empower women.
It can not be ascertained if any of the women sustain injuries or if any arrest has been made as of the time of writing this report.
Also, sources disclosed that some persons were taken away by the gunmen from the venue. The gunmen were also reported to have chased journalists at the venue away and threatened them with guns if they attempt to record them.
The gunmen were also reported to have carted away some canopies and chairs at the venue to an unknown destination. It was also learned that the women regrouped at the campaign of the governorship candidate of the PDP, Ifeanyichukwu Odii, to continue with their programme. Chris Anyanwu, the spokesperson of the police in the state, said he was not aware of the incident as of the time of press.
