Governor Otti, Senator Kalu Unite For Abia’s Development With China Power

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, hosted Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, at his Umuehim Nvosi country home in Isialangwa South Local Government Area.

Senator Kalu, accompanied by a high-level delegation from China Power, a Fortune 500 Chinese government-owned company, visited the Governor to explore opportunities for collaboration in key developmental sectors.

The team, led by Tino Dong, Vice President of China Power/Sinohydro West and Central Africa, included Yuan Zhang, Senior Consultant; Feng Zheng, Financial Expert; and Wantei Cao, Marketing Director.

Speaking during the visit, Senator Kalu expressed his commitment to fostering partnerships that would benefit the state and wished the Governor a prosperous New Year. He underscored the significance of China Power’s expertise, referencing the company’s role in constructing the $1.5 billion Shiroro Dam in Nigeria.

The delegation expressed interest in partnering with the Abia State Government in developing the power sector, construction, and the exploration of solid minerals and gas.

Governor Otti thanked Senator Kalu for his statesmanship and for prioritizing the development of Abia State despite political differences.

He reiterated that governance should transcend party affiliations, emphasizing that his administration is focused on improving the welfare of Abians through impactful projects and partnerships.
