Students in Enugu State have been given the opportunity of being part of a two-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics Educational Workshop, with overwhelming success and widespread commendation from educators and stakeholders across the state.
The two-day workshop, which ended yesterday was organised in collaboration with the Enugu State Government’s educational initiative, brought together secondary school students from different parts of the state to gain hands-on exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and emerging technologies.
The programme was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical technological skills, positioning Enugu students for global competitiveness.
The occasion was graced by the Attorney General of Enugu State, Honourable Osinachi Nnajieze, who represented the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Governor Peter Mbah. His presence underscored the state government’s strong commitment to innovation-driven education and youth empowerment.
Students participated in interactive sessions covering robotics design, basic programming, AI concepts, problem-solving, and innovation challenges. Facilitators—comprising seasoned professionals from the United States and Europe—guided participants through real-world applications of technology, inspiring creativity and confidence among the young learners.
Feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive. Many described the workshop as “eye-opening” and “life-changing,” noting that it sparked a new interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Several students expressed aspirations to pursue careers in robotics, software engineering, and artificial intelligence as a direct result of the program.
One participant stated, “This is the first time we were allowed to build and programme robots ourselves. It made us believe that students from Enugu can compete with anyone in the world.”
A standout highlight of the workshop was the impact of Larry Popo, whose commitment to youth development and technological empowerment was widely acknowledged. Through his alliance with the Enugu State Government, Larry Popo has continued to play a pivotal role in shaping future generations by promoting access to quality education, global exposure, and innovative learning platforms. His vision aligns strongly with the state’s goal of nurturing a technologically skilled and future-ready youth population.
Education stakeholders praised the initiative as a clear demonstration of what is possible when government and global partners work together. Officials noted that the program reinforces Enugu State’s commitment to advancing education, innovation, discipline, and security consciousness among young people.
The success of the AI and Robotics Workshop has sparked calls for its expansion into an annual programme and for similar initiatives to be extended to other parts of the state.
As Enugu continues to position itself as a hub for educational and technological advancement in Nigeria, the 2025 AI and Robotics Workshop stands as a powerful example of how strategic partnerships and visionary leadership can transform the future of education and inspire the next generation of innovators.
