The Eastern rap community is buzzing after fiery exchanges between two rising stars, Richplug and Hugo P, spilled onto X (formerly Twitter).
Richplug, in a late-night rant, accused Hugo P of “fake loyalty”, claiming the Abakaliki-born rapper abandoned him after receiving support. He fired shots saying Hugo “chopped cow but ran after a rabbit,” calling him a “hungry boy” and warning him not to “lie on anyone” or face public exposure.
Hugo P, however, has stayed relatively quiet while fans and fellow artists jumped into the fray.
One commentator, Charles0, countered Richplug’s claims, hinting that Hugo only distanced himself because he refused to support bullying of younger artists in the scene.
The feud has already polarized fans, with some backing Richplug’s “proofs” claim, while others accuse him of trying to intimidate and gatekeep the industry.
With both rappers representing the new school of Southeast hip-hop, observers fear this clash might either fuel creativity through diss tracks—or fracture the fragile unity of the region’s growing rap culture.
