The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Area Command, has set an unprecedented revenue milestone, raking in a staggering N50.8 billion in 2024—a record-breaking leap from the N28 billion collected in 2023.

Comptroller Comfort Ukpanah, who heads the command, made the announcement on Wednesday in Enugu, attributing the revenue boom to strict implementation of the vision and policy guidelines set by Comptroller-General (C-G) of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi.

According to Ukpanah, the command’s success was driven by the three core principles of the C-G—consultation, innovation, and consolidation—which provided a solid framework for surpassing targets.

“For the first time, the Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Command has met and exceeded its annual revenue goal, a feat that signals the rebounding strength of the South-East economy,” she declared

The comptroller praised the resilience and dedication of officers and men of the command, assuring stakeholders and the C-G that the command was poised to surpass the 2025 revenue target.

She emphasised a new era of transparency and collaboration between customs and stakeholders, saying, “The days of scaring stakeholders away and encouraging them to cut corners are over.”

With intensified sensitisation and compliance enforcement, Ukpanah noted that businesses were now embracing the need to pay the correct duty, leading to a surge in revenue, improved due diligence, and seamless operations.

“This shift has worked out remarkably, creating a win-win situation where compliance fuels growth, and Customs strengthens its operational efficiency,” she added.

With this historic revenue boost, all eyes are now on the Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Area Command as it gears up for an even bigger 2025.
