Canada is set to captivate global audiences with a dazzling Opening Ceremony for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ in Toronto on Friday, 12th June, 90 minutes before kick-off. The event promises a vibrant celebration of Canadian diversity, community, and the unifying power of football.
A host of global music luminaries, including Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream, and William Prince, are confirmed to perform. Their performances will echo the energy and diversity of the tournament, connecting fans in Toronto with celebrations across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The ceremony, produced in creative partnership with Balich Wonder Studio, will feature a unique mosaic-inspired reimagining of the FIFA World Cup Trophy, symbolising Canada’s rich tapestry of people, cultures, and communities.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated, “The opening ceremony in Toronto will be a powerful reflection of Canada’s identity and the energy surrounding the FIFA World Cup 2026™. We will welcome the world with a celebration that is uniquely Canadian.”
The show will embark on a journey across Canada, building a sense of welcome and shared excitement. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early, as gates open four hours before the match, offering exclusive activations and pre-match entertainment.
Canada’s men’s national team will make history by playing their first FIFA World Cup™ match on home soil against Bosnia and Herzegovina immediately following the ceremony.
The FIFA World Cup 2026™ will span 104 matches across 16 Host Cities, commencing on Thursday, 11th June in Mexico City and concluding with the final on Sunday, 19th July at New York New Jersey Stadium.
