A shuttle bus belonging to the Anambra State government’s Transport Company (TRACAS) has been recovered by police operatives from Obosi Divisional Headquarters after it was snatched by armed robbers posing as passengers.
Police, in a statement signed by Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, said the recovery took place on May 17, 2025, at Slaughter Junction in Nkwelle, Oyi Local Government Area.
The TRACAS vehicle, with registration number AGU 651 ZL, was being used for commercial transport when it was attacked by a five-man gang who boarded the bus under false pretences.
“The five-man armed criminal gang disguised themselves as passengers and dispossessed him of a cash sum of Twenty thousand Naira (#20,000) only and the shuttle bus,” the statement said.
“Consequently, the operatives acted swiftly and alerted the necessary security checkpoints to deny the criminals access to escape, which forced the hoodlums to abandon the vehicle at Slaughter Junction, in Nkwelle and flee through a nearby bush.”
“Meanwhile, security patrols have been intensified in the area to enhance safety and nip in the bud any untoward situation and for the possible arrest of the fleeing suspects,” the statement added.
