Fresh controversy has erupted following the circulation of an appointment letter allegedly issued by a political support group, Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN), which lists the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD) as a collaborating body.
The letter, dated January 22, 2026, appoints a political figure as Edo State coordinator of RTIFN and claims collaboration with FMYD, the Tinubu Support Group, and a group identified as Solution Marshall.
Screenshots of the letter, alongside campaign-style graphics bearing the logos of FMYD, RTIFN, and the All Progressives Congress (APC), began circulating on social media on Thursday, sparking public debate over the role of government institutions in partisan political activities.
Reacting to the development, public commentator Dr. Declan questioned the alleged involvement of the ministry in what he described as “an individual’s re-election bid.”
“My own is, why is FMYD (Federal Ministry of Youth Development) involved in an individual’s re-election bid?” he wrote on X.
The post generated mixed reactions, with some users condemning the alleged linkage as inappropriate, while others dismissed the controversy as routine political mobilisation.
The appointment letter, which bears RTIFN branding, also contains several grammatical and formatting inconsistencies, including spelling errors and unclear role descriptions, raising questions about its authenticity and official status.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from FMYD clarifying whether it authorised the use of its name or logo, or whether it has any formal relationship with RTIFN.
