Pecohub Anthony Joshua has paid a permanent tribute to his late friends, Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele, by tattooing their names on his arm following the fatal car accident that claimed their lives in December 2025.
The 36-year-old Nigerian-born British boxer was a passenger in a Lexus SUV travelling along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State on December 29 when the vehicle collided with a stationary truck.
While Joshua, a former two-time heavyweight world champion, survived with minor injuries, Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach, and Ayodele, one of his trainers, tragically died at the scene.
Joshua was hospitalised after the crash but was later discharged and returned to the United Kingdom, where he attended the funerals of both men.
Fulham Tattoo London shared images of Anthony Joshua getting the tribute tattoos, writing, “Huge thank you to two-time heavyweight champion of the world Anthony Joshua for unexpectedly and unannounced walking through the door a few weeks ago for his first visit with us at Fulham Tattoo London… what a walk-in!”
The names “LATZ” and “SINA” are now inked beneath the outline of Africa on Anthony Joshua’s right bicep, a tattoo he already had. Though born in Watford, Joshua’s parents are Nigerian, and he has consistently embraced his dual heritage.
According to Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the SUV was “suspected to be travelling beyond the legally prescribed speed limit on the corridor” at the time of the crash.
