The Anambra State Government is seeking partnerships with major electricity companies and private investors to expand off-grid power generation and reduce the state’s reliance on electricity supplied through the national grid.
Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Law Mefor, disclosed the plan in an interview published by THISDAY on October 9, 2026.
He said Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration considers reliable and affordable electricity essential to industrialisation and economic growth.
The state has established its own electricity regulatory framework and is pursuing private-sector participation in power generation and distribution.
The proposed partnerships could support industrial clusters, businesses and communities through more reliable electricity supply.
Anambra has also been expanding solar power and mini-grid projects for public facilities and underserved communities as part of its broader effort to improve electricity access.
