Google Play Launches $1m Fund for African Game Creators
Pecohub Google Play has announced a $1 million investment aimed at supporting independent game developers across Africa, as the global gaming industry continues to expand and attract new creative talent from the continent.
The initiative is designed to provide African game creators with access to funding, development tools, mentorship, and resources needed to build, publish, and grow successful gaming businesses.
Africa’s gaming sector has experienced rapid growth in recent years, driven by a young population, increasing smartphone adoption, improved internet access, and a growing community of developers creating games inspired by local cultures and global trends.
Google Play said the investment will help remove barriers faced by indie developers, including limited access to funding, technical resources, and global distribution opportunities.
