The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has commenced trial of more than 30 military officers accused of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu-led government.
The trial commenced this Friday, April 24, 2026, behind closed-doors at the Scorpion Mess with journalists barred from covering the proceedings.
The defendants arrived the court at about 8:54 a.m. in Army Headquarters Garrison bus followed by a DIA detention operations vehicle.
Defence Headquarters had said military officers involved in the plot to overthrow President Tinubu will be formally arraigned before a military cour martial following their arrest in October, 2025, and conclusion of investigations.
Pecohub reports that six other suspects, who are civilians and non-serving military officers, were on Wednesday arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja and thereafter remanded in DSS custody.
