The Senate of the University of Abuja has approved the expulsion of 28 students for various disciplinary offences.
Dr Habib Yakoob, Acting Director of Information and University Relations, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the decision was taken at the 191st Regular Meeting of the Senate held on Thursday, January 29, at the institution’s main campus, following consideration of the report and recommendations of the Student Disciplinary Committee (SDC).
According to the University, the offences for which the affected students were found culpable included threat to life and assault, examination malpractice, conspiracy, burglary, theft, cult-related activities, possession and use of hard drugs, falsification of ‘O’ Level results uploaded on the University portal for admission, as well as failure to appear before the disciplinary committee after repeated invitations.
In addition, the Senate approved the withdrawal of certificates of 15 former students who failed to honour invitations by the Committee despite several notices.
