Abia State University, Uturu has reacted to a report on Daily Post that claimed hundreds of its law graduates have been stranded for up to four years.
The University described the publication as distorted and urged the public to rely on verified information.
ABSU explained that the Law School backlog exists across many universities in the country. Admission into the Nigerian Law School depends on merit.
Students with higher CGPAs get in first because the institution works with a quota. The school added that this process affects every university that produces law graduates.
The administration stated that it met the backlog on ground. The school sends a percentage of each graduating set to the Law School each year, with slight preference for the set whose turn has reached. The school said the figure quoted in the online report was inflated. It also dismissed the claim that ABSU plans to send only the 2025 graduating set.
The management stressed that responsible reporting needs accurate information. It assured students and parents that efforts are ongoing to clear the remaining backlog as quickly as possible. The school appealed for patience and urged students to follow official updates.
