The Netball Association of Malawi has confirmed that preparations are in full swing as Malawi gears up to host the Africa Netball Cup 2025 at the Griffin Saenda Sports Complex in Lilongwe from 8 to 14 December.
The tournament, organised under the auspices of Africa Netball, will bring together some of the continent’s premier national teams for a celebration of African talent, passion, and unity.
Nine nations, including Malawi, South Africa, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia, and Eswatini, will compete for the continental title.
With stars such as Joyce Mvula, Mary Cholhok, and Shadine van der Merwe set to take the court, fans can anticipate thrilling matches and unforgettable moments.
On the ground, Malawi is finalising upgrades to the courts, training facilities, and event logistics.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC), volunteers, communities, and local partners are demonstrating tremendous support, setting the stage for a warm and memorable event.
LOC chairman Limbani Matola expressed his excitement about what the tournament means for the country.
“We are genuinely thrilled to host this event. It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Malawi’s sporting talent and the warmth of our people,” he said.
“This tournament will allow our fans to enjoy top-class netball right here at home and inspire young girls across Malawi to believe in themselves and take up the sport.”
He also made a heartfelt appeal to partners and businesses: “We encourage companies to come on board and support us so that together we can deliver a tournament that Malawi can be proud of.”
