Musician and humanitarian Willis Andabwa, popularly known as Ole Willy, has opened up on finding a deeper calling beyond the studio, spreading hope and empowerment across Africa.
Ole Willy’s DR Congo mission
Best known for his work in gospel music, Ole Willy has taken on a new role as a mentor, missionary, and advocate for young people across the continent.
His recent efforts have led him to Rwanda and Goma in DR Congo, where he combines spiritual guidance with humanitarian aid.
“The mission was born from my faith and a desire to uplift others. I felt called to use my influence to empower the youth in leadership, decision-making, and spiritual growth,’’ he told TUKO.co.ke.
The artiste behind songs such as Maskio Ya Mungu and Hafungi Macho admitted that working in DR Congo was fraught with challenges, especially in conflict-prone zones. According to the United Nations, the conflict had resulted in a record 6.9 million internally displaced people, making it one of the largest internal displacement crises globally
“We’ve struggled with logistics while trying to provide basic needs like food and medicine. But through faith and partnerships, we’ve been able to make a small but meaningful impact.”
Despite the challenges, Ole Willy said he is expanding his mission to countries including Eswatini, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe, with the hope of training young missionaries across the continent.

Willy admitted that his philanthropic work reshaped his outlook not only on life but on his role as an artiste.
“I now use my talent as a tool for healing, guidance, and change, especially among young people in crisis.”
While he stepped back from spending time in recording studios, Willy said he had embraced African cultural sounds and rhythms, collaborating with artists from Rwanda, Congo, Burundi, Mozambique, and beyond.
His current project aims to produce 200 gospel-infused songs with 10 regional artists by 2026, focusing on evangelism and cultural connection.
To his supporters in Kenya and beyond, he offered a heartfelt message:
“Thank you for walking with me. Let’s continue seeking God’s direction in our lives. Real change starts with purpose, service, and faith.”
Even after this mission, Willy said he is far from done.
“My passion for blending music and ministry is stronger than ever. Wherever God leads next, I’ll be ready.”
