Lil Nas X is getting back to his regularly scheduled “Dreamboy summer.”

Days after the “Old Town Road” artist shared he was in the hospital after suffering from partial facial paralysis, he reassured fans that he is already on the road to recovery.

“I’ve been chewing a lot so I can get this muscle stronger,” Lil Nas said in an April 15 Instagram Story, pointing to the right side of his face. “It’s much better.”

“My eye still has to play catch-up but I can give a genuine smile, so that’s good,” he continued. “I’m still winking at mothaf–kers.”

While the two-time Grammy winner hasn’t shared the cause behind his paralysis, Justin Bieber had a similar experience when he shared his diagnosis with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome in 2022. At the time, the “Baby” singer was even forced to cancel shows before he regained full mobility in his face nine months later.

For Lil Nas, his recovery seems to be moving at a slightly quicker pace. But from the very beginning, he was steadfast in approaching the scary situation with nothing but humor and positivity.

“This right eye is keeping an eye out for Selen-er,” he joked on his Instagram Stories, referencing Nicki Minaj’s verse about Justin’s ex Selena Gomez in his 2012 song. “It do not give a f–k.”

And despite his lack of complete control over his mug, the 26-year-old still made it clear that he would be taking full advantage of the summer sun.

“Can’t s–t ruin Dreamboy summer,” he wrote over a photo of a beautiful ocean landscape. “ITS TIMEEE.”

Indeed, Lil Nas has since been sharing glimpses into the fabulous moments—including one of him dancing on his balcony overlooking a beautiful sunrise April 18—that prove he is doing much better. Because at first, the news of his health scare left fans extremely worried.

“When I smile, this is me doing a full smile,” the “MONTERO” singer said in an April 14 Instagram video from a hospital bed, during which only the left half of his face lifted in a smile. Laughing through the pain, he added, “It’s like, what the f–k? Bro I can’t even laugh right. Oh my god.”

“Soooo lost control of the right side of my face,” he captioned the post, alongside a crying emoji. And moments later, he took to his Instagram Story to further show the state of his condition, panning the camera from one side of his face to the other. “I’m so cooked. We normal over here, we get crazy over here.”
