WWE star Cody Rhodes may have suffered serious injuries in the ring over the weekend, possibly thanks to Travis Scott.
The “Goosebumps” rapper made a cameo at WWE’s Elimination Chamber on Saturday night at Rogers Centre in Toronto alongside John Cena and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
The three-vs-one beatdown featured Cena delivering the jaw-dropping heel turn moment on Rhodes, who later lay hapless and bloodied in the center of the ring as Cena held him down by his legs and The Rock slapped Rhodes’ back with Scott’s personalized Hardcore Championship belt.
Then came perhaps the second slap heard ’round the world, when Scott used his left hand to hold down Rhodes’ neck before raising his right arm and smacking the WWE superstar’s head and face.
Rhodes writhed in pain, but it wasn’t until Tuesday when the extent of his purported injuries became known.
According to prominent wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, Rhodes reportedly suffered a black eye and a busted eardrum as a result of Scott’s violent slap.
According to Wrestling Headlines, Rhodes will break his silence about the heel turn and Scott’s slap during his upcoming appearance Friday on Netflix’s WWE SmackDown.
The brutal beatdown will only intensify Cena and Rhodes’ upcoming bout when they face off in a title match at WrestleMania 41, slated to go down on April 19 and April 20 and streaming live on Peacock in the U.S. and Netflix elsewhere.
Scott hasn’t mentioned the injury, but described his cameo as “like a whole ‘nother vibe,” adding that he can’t wait to train in the ring.
