North West confessed that she uses an alter ego when she’s out and about.
“I have [a fake name.] But I’m going to change because nobody believes me,” West, 11, told mom Kim Kardashian in a conversation with Interview magazine published on Friday, October 11. “It’s Katie Johnson.”
North, who is the eldest daughter of Kardashian, 43, and Kanye West, admitted that she typically uses a different moniker when she’s spending time with her pals in a public setting.
When I’m out at Sky Zone with my friends, they call me Katie,” she continued. “But when I look in the mirror for a long time, I’m like, ‘I do not look like a Katie.’ And then I was like, ‘OK, I got to change my name.’”
North’s decision to use a pseudonym isn’t that shocking since her famous father is well known for the many monikers he’s used over the years. Kanye, 47, has gone by Pablo, Yeezy, Yeezus and most recently Ye. The rapper even legally changed his name to Ye in 2021.
Earlier this year, North collaborated with her father on his and Ty Dolla $ign’s album, Vultures 1. She rapped a verse on the track “Talking/Once Again” where she revealed her musical persona, Miss Westie. (The song reached No. 30 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, earning her first chart appearance at age 10.)
North has always had a close bond with her dad. Kardashian and Kanye tied the knot in 2014. In addition to North, the pair share son Saint, 8, daughter Chicago, 6, and son Psalm, 5. In February 2021, the Skims founder filed for divorce from Kanye after seven years of marriage. The exes’ divorce was finalized the following year.
In the Interview chat with Kardashian, North confessed one of her favorite memories was a trip she and her siblings took with Kanye to Italy where her parents were wed.
